Chris Guzzo

Keyboards and Vocals

Born into a music legacy in Sault Ste. Marie, Chris grew up in the Royal Conservatory of Music family studying piano and theory by private lessons.   In his formative years he studied trombone at the Lakeway Secondary School.  He worked the horn in local jazz and swing bands as well as high school, musical theatre and civic orchestras.  In 1978 he traveled to England as a fellow performer with the Bawating High School Orchestra, representing Canada at the Harrogate International Youth Music Festival.

In the 80’s, Chris played keys for rock, pop and country bands throughout Ontario as a full timer building his chops in clubs, wedding venues and public events.  During this time he also tried his hand directing musical theatre orchestras with the Sault Musical Comedy Guild, finding success in amateur productions of “Chicago”, “Bye Bye Birdie”, “Dolly” and the off Broadway hit “I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road”.   He briefly worked as a jingle composer with local radio airplay and shared a piano bar gig with his greatest mentor, and father, Frank Guzzo Sr. (Frank Guzzo and the Premiers).

In the 90’s he returned to studying jazz at the Ontario College of Percussion and Music and picked up local Toronto gigs with the “Instrumentals” and “Roll Another Number”.  With more than 30 years experience behind keyboard rigs, Chris tries to keep it simple while filling the stage with sound and energy.   He is now a proud member of Brian Hawkin’s “Turning Point”!
